Mission Statement

The Internet has taken on many types from ADSL, Wireless Broadband and Fibre.  Freenet prides itself on providing free Wireless broadband to the world by using in-house developed technologies that enable large scale “unplugged” Internet access to any user with a WiFI enabled device including personal computers, notebooks, tablets and phones.  Freenet is dedicated to changing the world’s perspective on Broadband by enabling free Internet access in all major locations across the globe.

About Freenet

Freenet was created as a service to the end user and a low cost method for businesses to advertise both socially and one to one marketing strategies.  The concept of Freenet includes advertising at the top of each page served inside a web browser as a way of funding broadband at no cost to end clients but without being malicious or “hard to live with” in the way advertising is served to users and their devices.  To date, Freenet has 18 staff members and two offices located in Brisbane, Queensland and Sydney, New South Wales.

History

The concept of Freenet was designed and established by founder and managing director Jonathan Parker in late 2010.  Jonathan wanted to give the world free broadband but enabling large scalable networks that are not traditionally Internet service provider based and had to be free for users, Jonathan engaged the help from various parties to formulate the required production platforms and network design now real and utilized in Freenet’s technology backbone.  Jonathan also found some very talented people to head up productions including Matthew Mace and Christopher Khoury who had skills in special engineering and programming fields that help produce the first working models of Freenet in Queensland, Australia.

In 2011 Jonathan Parker established a board of members that included some very unique and powerful business individuals that could engage corporate business modeling and bring Freenet to the forefront of innovation.  Freenet to date has started installing new network zones in Sydney, New South Wales and Brisbane, Queensland Australia.  In 2012 Freenet will deliver free broadband access to all major capital cities in Australia while overseas production starts in March 2012 as-well.
